'Burning' House Halloween Decoration Prompts 9-1-1 Calls in Fountain Inn, SC

Fountain Inn Fire Chief Russell Alexander says the number of calls have dwindled over the past years.
Oct. 9, 2025

“Please do not call the fire department!”

Residents in Fountain Inn have again issued that message as their realistic decoration has heavy fire showing from all windows of thier house.

“The first year, we were inundated with phone calls from people driving by the home. This year hasn’t been as bad ... we’ve only had a few calls from people who are new to the area,” Fountain Inn Fire Chief Russell Alexander told the media.

The fire chief has been in contact with the couple about the scene.

When someone does call 9-1-1, Alexander said firefighters respond as the station is just a few blocks away.

“It’s bad practice to not send a truck and, ethically, I can’t take that liability. If we get a call, we’re sending a truck, no matter what.”

While it may look like the house is on fire, the chief says it's unlike what he's experienced.

He encourges people with lifelike Halloween decorations to reach out to fire and police.
