Man Lights Fire in California Police Station

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A robbery suspect is in custody after police said he tried to start a fire in a police station. Sacramento police said the man tried to rob a Chevron gas station clerk on Saturday. Detectives said that after robbing the gas station, 30-year-old Robert Fails ran into the central command station near North Third Street and Richards Boulevard. Officers said that after Fails entered the building, they smelled smoke and found a small fire in the lobby.

A robbery suspect is in custody after police said he tried to start a fire in a police station.

Sacramento police said the man tried to rob a Chevron gas station clerk on Saturday.

Detectives said that after robbing the gas station, 30-year-old Robert Fails ran into the central command station near North Third Street and Richards Boulevard.

Officers said that after Fails entered the building, they smelled smoke and found a small fire in the lobby.

Fails was arrested after a search of the building.

He's charged with arson, robbery and burglary.
