Two Victims Badly Burned in Ohio Garage Fire

Two people were severely burned Friday afternoon during a garage fire in Ashtabula.

Dec. 22--ASHTABULA -- Two people were severely burned Friday afternoon during a garage fire at 5543 Washington Ave., according to the Ashtabula Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a fire call at 12:50 p.m. and found an extensive fire in a one car detached garage, a fully involved car fire and two people suffering from burn wounds, according to a press release provided by the fire department.

"The first due firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. Paramedics from Community Care Ambulance began to stabilize the victims and called for a second ambulance from the Ashtabula Township Fire Department," the release states.

"Both victims were transported to the Ashtabula County Medical Center for treatment," the press release states.

"One firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated," the press release states.
