Man Wanted for Setting Jeans on Fire in N.C. Walmart

The fire on the blue jeans' rack was extinguished by employees and a customer.

Nov. 04--HICKORY -- Investigators released four images pulled from surveillance video of the suspected arson Wednesday night at Walmart on US 70.

The images are of the suspect who walked into Walmart around 1:30 a.m. Saturday and set fire to a rack of Wrangler blue jeans in the men's clothing department.

The suspect is described as a tall, skinny white male with shoulder-length hair wearing black pants, black gloves, a black jacket, dark brown shoes and, perhaps, a fedora with a white band.

Police said the suspect appeared to walk with a limp. Anyone with information can call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.

The fire was extinguished by employees and a customer, according to the Hickory Fire Department. Estimated damaged was between $30,000 and $50,000, according to Aleia Burwell of the Hickory Police Department.
