Young N.Y. Burn Survivor Asks for Christmas Cards

Dec. 9, 2015
Safyre Terry, 8, lost her father, sister and two brothers to an arson fire.

An 8-year-old girl who lost her family in an arson fire two years ago is asking for some help to make her Christmas wish come true.

Safyre Terry suffered burns to 75% of her body during the May 2013 fire in Schenectady. Her father, sister and two brothers perished in the blaze.

Her custodial aunt, Liz Dolder, said Safyre wanted to fill her Christmas card tree, but they didn't know how.

A friend shared Safyre's wish on Facebook and it immediately went viral.

"BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE She did. When she said she can't wait to fill up the card tree my response was I don't think it's gonna get filled up but I am sure we will get a few more cards," Dolder wrote on Facebook after the cards started pouring in. "She BELIEVED and ALL of YOU are making it happen. THANK YOU."

Take a moment to send her a card:
