Fire consumed a building at a Boerne resort owned by country music star George Strait Saturday night.
Boerne firefighters found that flames had consumed the attic and were burning through the roof of the club house at the Tapatio Resort when they arrived around 7 p.m.
Mutual aid was quickly called because of heavy fire conditions, according to a post on the Boerne Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page.
Boerne Fire Chief Doug Meckel told the San Antonio News Express that patrons were evacuating the structure when his crews arrived.
Meckel said crews used a defensive attack, focusing their efforts on protecting nearby structure from the intense heat.
Strait is one of the owners of the 220-acre, 18-hole golf course that just underwent a $2 million renovation.
Additional firefighters were called from Bergheim, Bexar County District 7, Grey Forest Leon Spring and Sisterdale fire departments.
Investigators from the Kendall County Fire Marshal’s office were called to investigate the cause of the fire.
