Fire at OH Mobile Home Kills Two Kids, Hurts Others

Two children were killed and multiple adults and other children were injured in a fire at a mobile home early Monday in New Lexington.

Jan. 29--NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Two children were killed and multiple adults and other children were injured in a fire at a mobile home early Monday morning, according to reports.

New Lexington Police Chief Scott Ervin tells the Columbus Dispatch that a 3-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl died in the fire.

Two adults and up to five other children were in unknown condition after being taken to hospitals in Columbus.

Ervin tells WHIZ the children's ages range 6 months to 17 years old.

Fox 28 reports the adults were expected to be released from the hospital Monday but at least two children were still hospitalized.

The fire was reported at 12:30 a.m. Monday. There are no reports on a cause but the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating, the Associated Press reports. New Lexington is about 55 miles southeast of Columbus.
