Handling Change: One Man’s Thoughts

This past week has been a real great one. I had the privilege of teaching a series of seminars for the Virginia Fire Prevention Association. The students in the class were really neat folks, and their leaders were among the truly great people with who I have worked during the course of my career.

One of the topics we discussed at length was the topic of change. How often have you heard me speak of the need to embrace change? I am sure that it is a subject that I have shared with you many times over the past several years. It is a concept which I cannot imagine that anyone moving through life in this world would ever be able to avoid.

Sadly though, there are those in every segment of society who are convinced that life is a fixed and immobile entity. I am fairly certain that you have heard someone in your fire department who has muttered words like,
