CHESTERFIELD, N.J. --
A fatal accident involving three trucks has closed a 26-mile stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike's northbound lanes in southern New Jersey.
State Police Sgt. Julian Castellanos says the crash involved a box truck, a dump truck and a tanker and occurred around 1 a.m. Friday in Chesterfield, south of Trenton.
Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando says one person was killed and another was critically injured. No names have been released.
Orlando says the tanker was hauling 8,000 gallons of kerosene. He says crews need to replace some guard rail and empty as much fuel as possible before uprighting the overturned tanker.
Orlando says officials hope to have the lanes reopened by 9 a.m.
