Injured Connecticut Hiker Rescued

An injured hiker was rescued from a Middelfield mountain Wednesday morning.

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. --

An injured hiker was rescued from a Middlefield mountain Wednesday morning.

Police received a call from the man at about 6:30 a.m. The man told police he was photographing the sunrise on Mt. Higby and fell. He complained of neck and back pain and told police he didnt want to move because of the pain.

Firefighters went in with a backboard and were taking the man out on a John Deere 6-by-6 vehicle at 8 a.m.

Fire officials said the hiker was conscious and alert.
