BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --

More than 100 people were evacuated from a Food Maxx in East Bakersfield on Monday evening.

A fire started outside the building at about 8:30 p.m. Fire officials said some paper products or pallets caught fire just outside of the back of the store. The sprinklers went on helping to control the blaze. Fire officials said about 150 people were inside the grocery store during the time of the incident and were all evacuated safely.

Environmental Health was also on scene to check for any food or other house hold products that could have been damaged.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
