2 Children Saved By Off-Duty California Firefighter

The firefighter was driving by and saw smoke coming out of a converted attic.

YUBA CITY, Calif. --

An off-duty firefighter saved two children by pulling them out of a burning home in Yuba City Tuesday morning.

The blaze was reported along Butte House Road.

The firefighter was driving by and saw smoke coming out of a converted attic.

Officials said he pulled two children out of the home. Both were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Crews were able to contain the two-alarm blaze before 11 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.

Most of the damage was contained to the converted living area in the attic.
