DALLAS --

An 18-wheeler hanging off of LBJ Freeway caught fire after a crash, snarling traffic at I-35E and I-635 in North Dallas late Tuesday morning.

Northbound Interstate 35E to eastbound I-635 were shut down after the truck crashed and caught fire at about 11 a.m., along with eastbound I-635 at I-35E and Harry Hines Boulevard in both directions.

If traveling north from downtown Dallas, motorists should exit Royal Lane east.

All roads were expected to be reopened by 5 p.m.

The driver of the big-rig was able to escape from the truck. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The following image was submitted by an NBC viewer to [email protected] with the comment: "My friend helped the driver get out before it burst into flames."
