FULTON COUNTY, Ga. --

Trapped by burglar bars, two people were killed Wednesday morning in a house fire in south Fulton County.

The bodies of Annie Pearl Mitchell, 77, and a male in his 60s were found inside the back door of the house in the 2100 block of Sandgate Circle, according to Fulton County fire department officials.

The male victim was Mitchell's live-in caretaker. Relatives said Mitchell suffered from severe arthritis.

"She could walk very little," said Charles Turner, Mitchell's son-in-law. "She couldn't have gotten out of there in a hurry. She would have had to crawl out."

Mitchell's nephew and his infant child were able to escape through the front door of the burning house.

There's no word yet on a cause of the fire.
