LITTLETON, Colo. A 13-year-old girl was found dead in the garage of a home in Littleton Wednesday evening after a fire. Investigators said they had not ruled out some sort of foul play.
Jessica Meyer's body was found in the garage at 8065 S. Logan Dr.
A delivery man first saw the smoke and told a neighbor to call for help. Littleton firefighters quickly responded and started battling the flames.
"As they were extinguishing the fire, moving into the garage, they found a body lying on the floor," Sgt. Sean Dugan with the Littleton Police Department said. "There's another sibling that wasn't in the house but was in the neighborhood at the time."
Investigators were planning to search the garage for evidence to figure out how the fire started. The garage doors were down and there wasn't a car inside.
Meyer was home alone when the fire started.
Police said her family was cooperating with detectives. An autopsy on Meyer's body was set for Friday.
