CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. --

A Clinton Township home exploded Monday morning leaving residents injured.

The home, located in the 2300 block of East Scott Boulevard, smelled of natural gas on Sunday night, neighbors in the area told Local 4 News. And, according to reports, someone inside the home lit a cigarette and sparked the explosion.

A mother, her 19-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son, were inside the home at the time of the explosion and suffered burns.

Firefighters said a natural gas leak was the cause of the explosion.
