FEMA Plans to Hire Temporary Workers

FEMA will hire several hundred workers for temporary jobs in areas including customer service, clerical, data entry, laborers, engineers with building and construction experience, logistical personnel, couriers, and computer and communications specialists.

FEMA will hire several hundred workers for temporary jobs in areas including customer service, clerical, data entry, laborers, engineers with building and construction experience, logistical personnel, couriers, and computer and communications specialists.

The pay will start at $12 an hour, depending on the job and skills. Priority will be given to disaster victims and residents of the six coastal counties.

Applications are available at all disaster recovery centers in the six counties, including the newest center at Biloxi's Yankie Stadium, and at all state employment offices.

Applicants will be required to have a federal background check and fingerprinting.
