Police say an 11-year-old boy admitted to starting a fire that destroyed a recyclable warehouse over the weekend.
The building, owned by Waste Management Inc. was used as a transfer station for recycles such as cardboard, paper and other consumer goods, fire officials said.
Police said the boy admitted playing with a lighter in the building and admitted starting the fire in the 2300 block of North Webster Street.
Firefighters spent more than 28 hours fighting the blaze.
The boy and three other juveniles were on the property and got inside the building through an overhead door that was not fully closed, police said.
The boy has been released to his family.
