(New York -WABC, October 2, 2005) - A scare for hotel guests in Midtown yesterday.
There was a fire in the electrical shaft at the Hilton New York. It flared up just after four pm.
That fire forced the evacuation of the 45-story building and shut down traffic on Sixth Avenue between 51-st and 54-th streets for more than three hours.
33 people were treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire was under control an hour and a half later.
The cause is still under investigation.
