Plans have been established for a 25 member task force that will suggest strategies for reducing fire fatalities of the elderly. Montgomery County Executive, Douglas M. Duncan, set forth the initiative following the deaths of six senior citizen residents in the past fifteen months.
As the Gazette.net has previously reported, future undertakings may involve creating incentives to install sprinkler systems and devising new regulations to increase the fire safety of living communities.
Serving as staff liaison will be former county Fire Chief, John Best. The majoriy of members will be senior citizens and all will serve two year terms.
