A man was caught in swift moving water

Within hours after one floodgate was opened allowing water from Lake Arrowhead to flow down Willow Creek near the UCLA Conference Center, San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel performed a daring rescue of a man caught up in the swift moving water.

Firefighters and rescuers converged on the bank of Willow Creek just a few feet from the floodgate where water had been flowing over the spillway since March 8 and the gate was opened last week discharging over 700 million gallons of water over and through the spillway.

The man in Willow Creek turned out to be a firefighter who was certified to perform swift water rescue.
