OMAHA, Neb. --

A warehouse fire in downtown Omaha sent flames and thick black smoke into the air on Thursday night.

Fire crews were sent out to the building near 11th and Seward streets just before 10 p.m. Fire officials said there were several pickup trucks in the building and it appears the fire jumped from one vehicle to the next.

No one was in the building at the time and there were no injuries.

Assistant Fire Chief Steve Wagner said the blaze did prove to be a challenge for firefighters.

"The access was difficult. It was an all-metal building, so we had to use our power saws to gain access, breaking through the doors -- cutting through the doors," Wagner said.

Wagner said the building was damaged but it is repairable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
