New York Firefighter Charged in Multiple Arsons

A Wayne County Firefighter was arrested Sunday for starting several fires in the town of Lyons.

LYONS, N.Y. -- A Wayne County Firefighter was arrested Sunday for starting several fires in the town of Lyons.

Wayne County Sheriff's said 20-year-old Justin Confer, of Lyons, is being charged with five counts of 3rd degree arson.

After investigating several suspicious fires in the Lyons area, police named Confer a suspect. While he was under police surveillance Confer was observed setting an abandoned trailer on fire.

He was then arrested when he responded to the scene, as a firefighter, to help fight the fire.

Confer, a member of the Lyons Fire Department, admits being involved in starting others fires in the area.

Confer was arraigned and sent to Wayne County Jail on $40,000 cash bail and $60,000 bond.
