SPARTANBURG, S.C. --

A fire captain was injured early Tuesday morning when he fell while at the scene of a fire at a Spartanburg business.

After the fire was under control, Capt. Evan Robinette and another firefighter were on top of a large machine in the Martex Fibers building on Southport Road. While they were looking for any sign that the fire had spread, Robinette lost his footing and fell about 8 to 10 feet.

Robinette was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

According to the Croft Fire District, Robinette's gear cushioned his fall, preventing any serious injury.
