On Feb. 10, Hampton Quint 401 was driving north on Harris Creed Road when a vehicle approached from the opposite direction, according to Ann-Marie Loughran, Hampton PIO. The driver moved to the right and the back wheel dropped off the road into a three-foot ditch making it impossible for the driver to recover.

The quint roll onto its side. It was a narrow road with a ditch on both sides of the road. The quint was shuttling water, because there were no hydrants in the area of the fires.

The driver suffered a few bumps and bruises, Loughran said. He was wearing his seat belt.

No word on the damage to the quint.
