Authorities said wind-driven flames burned a Beavercreek business to the ground Monday night. A fire struck Tutys Inn, a popular nightspot located at Grange Hall Road and Colonel Glenn Highway.
Firefighters received reports before arriving that a fire was in the attic. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters said flames were shooting from the buildings roof.
Officials said the high nighttime winds whipped the flames throughout the building. Firefighters had to use aerial trucks and ground-based water streams to try and gain control of the blaze.
Authorities said the flames also threatened a Waffle House that is located nearby. Officials said about 10 people, who were inside the Waffle House, were evacuated when the fire started next door.
Firefighters from Riverside and Fairborn assisted Beavercreek as the flames flared back up a couple of times throughout the night.
Officials said there were no reports of any injuries during the fire. At this time, it is uncertain how the fire started.
