An explosion and fire heavily damaged a hotel in Bremen in Carroll County.
Firefighters from Bremen, Haralson County and Carroll County are at the scene at the Quality Inn Hotel and Suites at 1077 Alabama Avenue South.
Guests say the explosion woke them up just before 9:00 a.m.
The explosion caused part of the roof of part of the hotel has collapsed. The second floor balcony at one corner of the building crashing into the parking lot below.
Several vehicles parked near the hotel are covered with debris.
There are reports that one hotel worker is missing.
The mother of that worker rushed to the scene, but Rudine Helton says her 44-year old son is unaccounted for.
Witnesses told emergency workers that they smelled gas shortly before the explosion.
It appears the blast was centered in the laundry room of the hotel.
All of the guests made it out of the hotel safely.
Bremen is about 45 miles west of Atlanta out I-20.
