One department hopes to turn firefighter mistakes into safety lessons.

While fighting a house fire earlier this year, Ashburn, Va. firefighters were caught off guard when a floor collapsed beneath their feet and an extreme wall of furnace-effect heat blew down a hallway.

It could have ended a lot worse than it did. One firefighter trapped as a result of the floor collapse was rescued after calling "mayday." And four firefighters escaped the second floor heat blast with only minor burns. But the lessons of that fire will serve as one focus on Tuesday
