GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Two workers were badly burned in a fire Monday at the Gold Kist grain plant.
Ricky Phillips, deputy chief of the Guntersville Fire Department, told The Gadsden Times that both victims were flown to Birmingham for treatment.
He said firefighters responded to the small ``flash fire'' on Alabama 227 shortly before 4:30 p.m. and the fire was out when firefighters arrived.
The fire likely was caused by grain dust underneath one of the grain bins that was accidentally ignited by a tool used at the plant, he said.
The two men were flown by an emergency helicopter from Huntsville to UAB Medical Center's burn center.
The employees' conditions were not immediately available, and company officials could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
