Michigan Man Crashes Into Apartment Building And Sparked Gas Explosion

"There’s got to be 50 ambulances here, easily, because they’re lined up and down the street in all directions."

Firefighters were on the scene of a major fire at a Lansing apartment complex late Monday afternoon.

Police say a car drove into the Waverly Park apartment complex, ruptured a gas line, and exploded. High flames could be seen for miles around the complex, parts of which appeared to be consumed by the fire.

Ken Turner works nearby, and spoke with Action News by phone.

"Right now one building is completely burnt, just about to the ground, and the fire trucks are concentrating on the other building, which is about halfway there," Turner said. "Half of it is on fire, and the other half is pretty much contained."
