More Charges For Driver Accused Of Hurting Firefighters

The Illinois State Police say a driver who caused a crash hurting a group of firefighters in Sangamon County faces a number of charges now including DUI
The Illinois State Police say a driver who caused a crash hurting a group of firefighters in Sangamon County faces a number of charges now including DUI.

They say firefighters from Loami were hit while helping a motorist along Route 54 near New Berlin.

One firefighter is in critical condition.

The say the driver Patrick Heinen of Alexander in Morgan County was driving drunk.

He also faces charges for failing to yield and other charges under Scott`s law which increases penalties for drivers who hurt emergency personnel.
