RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- What first appeared to be a routine fire sent four Rapid Valley firefighters to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Fire Chief Tim Kobes said everyone in the house got out safely Sunday but the firefighters were quickly surrounded by flames.

Three were treated at the hospital and released. Doctors observed the fourth for several hours before releasing him.

The house was destroyed. A candle is the possible cause of the fire, which started in a bedroom.
