Firefighter Imposter Steals Toys Meant For Michigan Underprivileged Children

The search is on for the man who walked into a business disguised as a firefighter, and then made off with Christmas gifts intended for underprivileged children.

ZEELAND TOWNSHIP - The search is on for the man who walked into a Zeeland Township business and made off with Christmas gifts intended for underprivileged children.

Police say the suspect posed as a firefighter and approached employees Monday afternoon at the Dollar General Store on Homestead Drive.

The suspect displayed a Toys for Tots program card to convince the clerks to give him the gifts.

Officials at the store say the bins are emptied from time to time, but by members wearing either a military uniform, camouflage fatigues, or a blue Toys for Tots jacket.

They also have a picture ID with the signatures of two of the top three Toys for Tots officials.

If you have any information about the person who took these toys, you are asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
