TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A Tucson family won't be spending the holidays at home after a 6-year-old boy accidentally set his house on fire.
The fire started Friday morning in a closet, where the boy was playing with a cigarette lighter, said Tucson Fire Department Battalion Chief Randy Ogden. The clothes caught fire and spread to other rooms in the family's home.
Neither the boy nor his 10-year-old sister were hurt, but the children's mother tried to put out the fire herself and suffered second-degree burns and a cut on her right hand, Ogden said. The fire did an estimated $90,000 in damage.
The American Red Cross said the family, who was displaced, will receive help.
