LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) -- Two teenagers were killed and another injured in a fire early Thursday at a mobile home in north Lincoln County.

Jessie Lee Flowers, 17, and Joseph Patrick Byrd, 15, both of Lincolnton, had come to the home at about 2:30 a.m. to visit a teen who lived there, Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective Tim W. Johnson said.

Adam Hoyle, the teen the two boys were visiting, was taken to Lincoln Medical Center with burns and smoke inhalation.

Flowers and Byrd were found in a back bedroom of the doublewide mobile home, which was occupied by a total of nine people when the fire broke out, Lincoln County Fire Marshal Mike Futrell said. They had been told to leave by one of the adults in the home, but stayed.

``The mother and father didn't even know they were there,'' Johnson said.

The fire is believed to have started in an adjacent bedroom when someone discarded a cigarette improperly, he said.
