WASHINGTON (AP) -- Fire investigators said arson is to blame for a school fire Wednesday.
It's the second time in just over a week that firefighters have responded to a fire at the Idea Public Charter School at 1027 45th Street, in N.E., Washington, D.C. The call came in around 2 a.m. ``Two separate distinct fires were set in the building, `` said District of Columbia Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter.
Damage is estimated at $500,000.
The school was burned last Tuesday also during the overnight hours. That fire too was ruled as arson with damages totaling $1,000,000.
``There is a very serious situation going on there,'' said Etter but he wouldn't elaborate on any evidence.
Anyone with information about these arsons is asked to call the D.C. Arson hotline at 866-91-ARSON.
