The owner of the castle says he may rebuild. This, as a team of fire investigators returned to burned castle in search of a cause.
It's difficult, painstaking work sifting thru the rubble of what was described as a massive building to try and spot the evidence that would answer the now burning question--what started the fire that destroyed a central Kentucky landmark?
So far, there are no answers to that question, although members of the state fire marshal's office and the state police arson squad continue to look.
It could be weeks before a final determination of the cause of the fire is made.
They now know what didn't cause the fire. Officials have ruled out lightning. The National Weather Service says there was no lightning in the area at the time when the fire started.
The castle's new owner, Tom Post of Miami, Florida is still expected to see the damage first hand on a visit to the Bluegrass.
As of mid-afternoon Friday, he hadn't been seen on the property. Repeated calls to his local contacts proved fruitless.
The Woodford County fire department has been in close contact with Post in the aftermath of the fire, though they haven't met face-to-face.
Late Friday afternoon, Tom Post released a statement saying he is talking with architects, engineers and contractors to see if the castle can be rebuilt.
The property is under constant guard, keeping the curious on the outside of the castle looking in.
