Eyewitness News has learned that smoke alarms never sounded when a condominium complex caught fire last Thursday.

Fire captain Rob Brisley says the alarms were working properly, and they would have sounded had they been placed in the attic.

That fire destroyed several units at the quail hollow estates east condominiums. Investigators say the complex also didn't have wall barriers.
