Savannah fire investigators are looking into the cause of a huge house fire on the city's east side early today. Someone spotted the blaze just after 3am this morning near the corner of 32nd Street and Waters Avenue. When Savannah firefighters arrived, a two story building--being renovated--was engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke blanketing the neighborhood.

The fire had also begun to spread to a barber shop next to it on Waters Avenue.

Firefighters set up hoses along Waters to attack the blaze, while others used a ladder truck to fight the fire going through the roof.

Police evacuated a woman from the house next door on 32nd Street while other firefighters went to the back to prevent the fire from spreading to her home.

A fire investigator was called to the scene and has decided the building will need to be demolished. Waters Avenue will be closed to traffic during the process.
