Church Blaze Injures Three Tennessee Firefighters

The fire, destroyed Main Street Church of Christ. Three members of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department were injured when part of the roof fell on them.

Three firefighters were injured Thursday morning while battling a blaze at a historic church in the town of Carthage, in Smith County.

The fire, which began shortly before 10 a.m., destroyed Main Street Church of Christ, located one block from the town's main square.

Three members of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department were injured when part of the roof fell on them.

Carthage Fire Chief Ed Stallings was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
