Kansas City Police And Firefighters Go For Blood

Kansas City police officers and firefighters will square off today to see who can raise the most blood for the Community Blood Center.
Kansas City police officers and firefighters will square off today to see who can raise the most blood for the Community Blood Center.

The 10th annual Battle for Blood, sponsored by radio station 98.9 FM, The Rock, hopes to spur donations to the blood center, which faces a supply shortage.

Police and fire vehicles and McGruff the Crime Dog will be at the Community Blood Center, 4040 Main St., and the public is urged to donate blood in support of the fire or police departments. Donations can be made between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m

Donations also may be made at these blood centers: 7285 N. Oak Trafficway in Gladstone, 1124 W. U.S. 40 in Blue Springs, 10568 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, and 3122 Frederick Ave. in St. Joseph.
