Firefighters are still dousing a lumber yard fire with water. The fire began at the A.F. Schward Lumber Yard in Woods Run and quickly spread to five nearby homes.

The fire began at the A.F. Schward Lumber Yard in Woods Run and quickly spread to five nearby homes.

Flames began just before 3 a.m. Monday.

The company opened in 1860 and has been in Woods Run for 100 years.

Five nearby homes on Richardson and McClure streets were also destroyed.

The Salvatin Army is helping nine people left homeless.

Twenty others have been evacuated from surrounding homes.
