On 11 March 2003 just after noon the Wildwood City Fire Department received a report of a fire at the Joint Construction Office of the Wildwoods' - JCOW, which is located at 4004 Pacific Avenue in center city.

Engine Company 38, consisting of the career duty crew, quickly arrived and observed smoke coming from the building. The building was occupied and operating at the time of the fire. All employees were able to exit the building prior to the fire departments arrival. A second alarm was requested immediately calling in off-duty career and volunteer firefighters. Additional alarms were struck for the City of North Wildwood Fire Department and the Borough of West Wildwood Fire Department for manpower and air support.

The fire was confined to the building of origin. The fire appears to have started on the first floor and extended to the attic area. Firefighters had to ventilate the roof to allow the heavy smoke condition in the building to escape so firefighters could enter the attic space and complete extinguishment of the fire.

There were no reported injuries and the fire remains under investigation by the Wildwood Fire and Police Departments and the CMC Fire Marshal's Office. Damage to the building is estimated at $ 50,000.
