A 79-year-old female has died during a brush fire that quickly got out of control.

A 79-year-old female has died during a brush fire that quickly got out of control.The call came in after 2:00pm on Thursday afternoon, for the 12000 block of Donegal Road in Chesterfield County.

"We were on the scene of a gas-line fire when the call came in," Battlion Chief Kevin Spaulding said."The initial call said a house fire with a woman on fire. Wearrived on the scene within 10 minutes and discovered it was a brush fire and the woman was outside.The house was not involved."

The fire was quickly brought under control.The victim had severe burns on her body.

Neighbors had said they saw the woman burning leaves earlier.

"She had a medical history,"Battlion Chief Spaulding said. "We don't know at this time if cause of death was her medical condition or complications from the fire. We won't have the cause until the autopsy results are in.The fire was a controlled burn and was an accident."

The name of the victim is being withheld by authorities until next of kin is notified.
