Fire Causes $300K in Damage to Calif. Taco Bell

Cal Fire said it responded to a fire at Taco Bell in the Santa Nella area Wednesday morning that caused an estimated $300,000 loss, with no injuries reported.

Jan. 25--Cal Fire said it responded to a fire at Taco Bell in the Santa Nella area Wednesday morning that caused an estimated $300,000 loss, with no injuries reported.

The Taco Bell was closed at the time the fire was discovered. When the manager walked into restaurant, she found the cooking area inside the restaurant filled with smoke, Cal Fire said in a news release.

After discovering the fire, the manager left the building and called 911. Fire officials estimated a $300,000 loss and a $700,000 in savings to the building and contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Involved were five Merced County fire engines, two Merced County water tenders, one Merced County chief officer, one Los Banos city fire engine, one Los Banos city chief officer and one Merced County rescue unit. The Los Banos City Fire Department cooperated in the response.
