Jan. 20--A drunken man who was found passed out on a neighbor's porch awoke to give cops and firefighters all they could handle, Colorado Springs police said.
Firefighters were called to 6626 Sproul Lane, west of the intersection of Union and Dublin boulevards, just after 9 p.m. Saturday after neighbors heard someone trying to open a door and checked it out to find the unconscious man. The trouble started when firefighters began to treat the man.
"Upon arrival officers observed four fire fighters holding down an intoxicated male, subsequently identified as 21-year-old Joshua Lance Perkins," police said
Officers handcuffed Perkins and were hauling him to a patrol car when police say he head-butted and officer, causing a minor injury. Police wrestled him into the car, where they say Perkins began trying to kick out the windows when they got to the station.
Police used pepper spray to try to persuade Perkins to calm down, but that didn't work.
Police had another negotiating tool for Perkins, officers said.
"He was then tased at which time he promptly complied and walked himself into the holding cell," police said.
Perkins was held Sunday morning at the El Paso County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
