OH FF Arrested After Shooting Roommate

A firefighter with the Cleveland Division of Fire has been arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter.

A firefighter with the Cleveland Division of Fire has been arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with the death of his roommate.

Kevin McCarthy, 25, was taken into police custody after allegedly shooting his roommate, 25-year-old Christian Kilburg.

In 9-1-1 audio obtained by WKYC 3 News, McCarthy is heard saying, "I accidentally discharged a firearm, and I accidently shot my roommate."

When officers arrived, McCarthy was in front of the residence on his knees with his hands behind his back and taken into custody. Kilburg, suffered a single gunshot wound to his head.

The Cleveland Division of Fire placed McCarthy on suspension without pay pending the outcome of court proceedings.
