The unconscious woman was found lying on the trail by a cyclist.

Nov. 01--A woman fell 50 feet from a cliff onto the Deckers Creek Trail and survived Thursday afternoon.

EMS and the Morgantown Fire Department (MFD) responded.

MFD Capt. Larry Speicher, said a cyclist on the trail saw the woman lying on the trail between the South High Street and Pleasant Street bridges. The cyclist called 911 at about 3:30 p.m.

Officials had not identified the woman in time for this report. They estimated her age to be late 40s to early 50s.

She was unconscious after the fall, but regained consciousness. Speicher said she was in a "very combative" state with rescue workers.

She was unaware of her surroundings or what was happening. She was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital as a trauma case.

Speicher said the case was similar to an incident that happened five months ago, when a man fell from the cliffs above the trail in the same area. He also survived.
