San Antonio Firefighter Collapses Inside Firehouse

Fire Engineer Roger Dennis Jr. collapsed while on duty as a paramedic inside Fire Station 40.

San Antonio Fire Engineer Roger Dennis Jr. died after suffering a heart attack on Feb. 29, according to Information District Chief Randy Jenkins.

Dennis, 55, collapsed while on duty as a paramedic at Fire Station 40.

"The loss of Roger has created an irreplaceable void for the family of the San Antonio Fire Department," Fire Chief Charles Hood said in a statement. "He was a dedicated life saving professional who strived to protect the welfare of the citizens of San Antonio and will be truly missed by all."

Dennis joined the department in June of 1973 and was promoted to the rank of fire engineer in October of 1984.

Funeral Information

Visitation for Firefighter Dennis will be held Thursday, March 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home, 811 S. Ww White, San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at the Living Way Christian Center, 13285 N I-35, Live Oak, Texas.
