Jonathan Healy, 26, of Paragould was killed Saturday night when the truck he was riding in fell off the road and into a ditch below.
Healy was riding alongside Greene County Sheriff's deputy Rodney Newman.
The two were on their way to assist another deputy when the truck they were in lost control and flipped.
The county road, located right off of Highway 49, is a gravel road, which was a contributing factor in the accident.
"It was quite dusty due to the dry conditions and as deputy Newman was coming up to a 90 degree turn and due to the dusty conditions the curve slipped up on him and he failed to negotiate the curve. The deputy then rode off into about an eight foot ditch, " said Arkansas State Police trooper Tony Hill.
The Greene County Rescue Squad was called to the scene, where they had to extricate the two men out of the truck.
Deputy Newman was not seriously injured in the accident and was kept overnight at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
He was released Sunday morning.
